- She and her girlfriends visited local USOs to talk with and dance with soldiers. Also, she went to one of the biggest high schools in Indianapolis, and I have all of her yearbooks. The 1944 yearbook is dedicated to all of the students who left school to join the armed forces. It even includes signatures from all of those soldiers. During the school year the high school students sent Christmas cards to their classmates/soldiers. She also participated in school activities to organize and sell war bonds and stamps.
