- Type of Work
- During World War II, many of the automobile manufacturing factories in Michigan were converted into military equipment manufacturing plants, including Bundy Tubing. In 1941, Bundy Tubing moved into a new location -- a suburb of Detroit, Michigan called Warren, Michigan. Between 1942 and 1945, 20% ($30 billion) of all U. S. war manufacturing was happening in Detroit, Michigan. Bundy Tubing was manufacturing metal tubes that were used in the building of military tank engines. My Great-great grandmother, Bessie Fanny Bookout, had worked on the assembly line at Bundy Tubing manufacturing metal tubes.
