NORWAY – In loving memory of Marjy E Sessions, 97, who peacefully passed away at her home in Norway, on Jan. 11, 2024. Born on Dec. 11, 1926, to Everard and Lucy Wentworth in Rangeley, Marjy’s life journey was marked by resilience, dedication, and a love for nature. During her senior year of high school, Marjy’s family moved to Bridgton, where her father served as the town manager. In the midst of World War II, Marjy became a proud “Rosie the Riveter” member, working with a torch as a scarfer on ships being built in California for the war effort. This experience shaped her life and once she moved home her dedication led her to work for the Bridgton Knitting Mill for 25 years. Alongside her husband Robert, Marjy ventured into owning and operating a boarding house and apartments. Later, the family opened Great Scott Storage, the first modern storage facility in the area, where Marjy continued to work until the age of 93. Her love for gardening and wreath making was a testament to her passion for nature, and her work was featured in “The Great Wreath Book.” Marjy, known to her boys as “Marm,” was actively involved with the VFW Post No. 9787 and Stone Smart American Legion Auxiliary in Norway. She, along with her husband, played a pivotal role in bringing the Maine Veterans Home to South Paris. Marjy was predeceased by her parents, Everard and Lucy; her siblings, Minnie, Mildred, John, Mertic, George, Alice and Maxcel; her husbands, Edward Brown Sr. and Robert Sessions; and her sons Michael and Edward Jr. She is survived by her sons and their spouses, Scott and Susan, Sumner and Janet, Samuel and Holly and Janet, Edward Jrs significant other; her grandchildren and their spouses, Christine, Gregory, Nicole, Shella and Brandon, Melissa and Tyler, Garret and Charlee, Zach and Rachael, Mac and Rose; and her six great-grandchildren. A service in remembrance of Marjy will be held on Jan. 27, 2024, at the Chandler Funeral Home, 45 Main Street, South Paris, Maine. Visiting hours will begin at 1 p.m. with the Service to follow at 2:30 p.m. The family has organized a gathering at the Norway American Legion Hall immediately following the services. May her legacy of resilience, dedication, and love for nature be cherished by all who knew her. The family would also like to thank Kathy and the wonderful home care staff for their compassion through this difficult time.
