Operated a hydraulic draw press, the first step in the manufacturing of 57 mm anti-tank shells. Later, she worked in war emergency child care. Conlon Corporation, Cicero, IL, in 1943; Helen was a “Rosie the Riveter” during World War II operating huge draw presses that produced bullets and anti-tank shells. She also worked in the war-time nursery taking care of other women’s children so they could work in the factory.
