- Palacioz was a Rosie the Riveter during WWII and more recently worked on Doc as a volunteer. She also worked on that plane during WWII and took a 55-year break from her Boeing employment war days to volunteer on the bomber Doc, which is housed in Wichita and became flight worthy in 2016. During the war, the Newton resident worked for Boeing from May 1943 to August 1945, when the war was over, and in 2000, she started volunteering for the Superfortress B29 bomber, Doc, which was extracted from a desert. For her work, the 97-year-old was honored before Congress in May in Washington, D.C., along with other women who served during the war, and she and the others were broadcast on PBS national TV during the recent 2022 National Memorial Day Concert. While onstage, she waived a small American flag.
